The Kauri

Follow the boardwalk to learn about our mighty Kauri tree from a simple cone, to a small seedling that then grows up to tower above the canopy as a giant of the Ngahere (forest). Learn about the kauri that grew in our area and how to protect them today!

Then through time to an era where the forests were a source of income – from timber to golden gum. But shhh, don’t wake our gum-digger it’s his rest day! Step back in time and enter our gum-diggers hut and learn how they lived so far away from civilization.
